Capacity Building Workshops

The Capacity Building Workshops are designed to provide a foundation for faith-based non-profit organizations.  During these highly facilitated workshops, organizations are lead thought a series of phases from ministry vision, to obtaining grants, to program operations.  

The workshops require an application process and a small fee to cover the expenses of each workshop. For those organizations who we accept, we help them to develop systems, write and/or management the grant process, and plan for building organizational capacity.  Organizations will sign a contract for grant and capacity building consulting services. Our fee is based on a percentage of the funds we help you obtain.  No charge (other than the workshop fees) for near misses.

4th Hour - Hands-on Support, Networking and Team Building

During each workshop we will facilitate team building between organizations to maximize success.  

Workshops Leading to Building Your Organization

Phase One - Planning Your Dream 

1. Vision Development - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, attendees will support each other in the development of a vision for their own programs.  

·         Homework for this workshop will consist of the development of a vision, missions statement, historical documents, statistical analysis of the problem to be solved, and other supporting data to be used in future grants.  

COURSE OBJECTIVES: 

1. Find Your Passion and God's Will For You 

2. Understand and Document Your Vision 

3. Document History 

4. Understand the steps required in building capacity.

2. Strategic Planning - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the first workshop. They will learn about and perform strategic planning for their own programs.  

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the first workshop. The attendees will use the storms of chaos model, the SWAT analysis, and other tools to address their own programs strategic planning issues.  

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

1. Understand the big picture view of the organization and how all the parts fit together. 

2. Understand Strategic Planning, Chaos, Strategy, and the SWOT Analysis 

3. Write out the purpose and goals 

4. Put together a plan 

3. Program Design - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the first two workshops. They will learn about and design their own programs. The attendees will learn about excellence in management and organizational development issues.  

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the first two workshops. The attendees will work on capacity and infrastructural development plans.

4. Project Planning - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the other workshops. They will learn project management tools and apply them to their own programs.

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. The attendees will development project management plans, processes, and systems for their own programs.   

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

1. Understand the role of Project Management 

2. Start a Budget 

Phase Two - Funding Your Dream  

5.      Research of Funding Opportunities - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the earlier workshops. They will learn research methods for funding opportunities and apply them to their own programs.

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. The attendees find the funding sources, schedules, and rules for application for the funding organizations.   

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

1. Find Money 

6. Grant/Proposal Preparation, Part I - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the earlier workshops. They learn about grant preparation and will start the grant proposal preparation process.

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. The attendees find the start preparing the grant proposals. 

·         We will support the writing of the proposals and work together to refine the application and paper work.    

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

1. Grant/Proposal Preparation

7. Grant/Proposal Preparation, Part II - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the earlier workshops. They will finish the grant proposal preparation process and have it ready for submission.

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. The attendees finish the grant proposals. 

·         We will continue to support the writing of the proposals and work together to refine the application and paper work.    

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

1. Grant/Proposal Preparation

Phase Three - Building Your Dream

8. Program Implementation - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the earlier workshops. They will plan for their program's implementation based on the grant information.

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. Understand and start the program implementation process.

·         We will continue to support the implementation process as needed.

1. Start building your company 

2. Start building your procedures and policies 

3. Start building your systems 

4. Put together a plan Workshop 

5. Requirements and Compliance Management Workshop

6. Project Completion, Transition, and Funding Drawdown Management

9. Requirements and Compliance Management - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the earlier workshops. They will work on the requirements and compliance issues related to their own program based on the grant information.

·         Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. Create a requirements and compliance management system for their own program.

·         We will continue to support the implementation process as needed. 

10. Project Completion, Transition, and Funding Drawdown Management - Four hour facilitated workshop. During this workshop, the attendees will build on the earlier workshops. They will understand the completion and transition phase of the project. Attendees will learn about funding drawdown management and create a system for these processes.

·        Homework for the workshop will consist of the refinement of the information collected from the earlier workshops. Create management systems for their own program.

·        We will continue to support the implementation process as needed.

This set of workshops are designed to help you build the capacity of your organization. What we discuss and teach is our view based on our experiences, our research, and our conversations with other professionals. Your job is to put the effort into your own organization and our job is to support you. The participates own these workshop and it will only be as effective as the participation.
